ONGOING TREE PLANTING AT MARANIA, MOUNT KENYA
Our tree planting initiative took off in 2017, as we undertook to support Kenya's Ministry of Environment’s target to create 10% of the country’s land to the forest by the year 2022. To date, we have planted about 170,000 trees on the slopes of Mt. Kenya and about 20,000 within the rest of the country, with one of the sites being the famous Karura Forest in the city of Nairobi
BIODIGESTER AT CHELATA PRIMARY SCHOOL
Constructed a biodigester plant as part of the Ablution Block at Chelata Primary School and the treated wastewater will be used to create a “Fruit Trees Orchard”.
WAIYAKI WAY CLEAN UP
A Clean-Up of Waiyaki Way from ABC Place to the Mall Roundabout was undertaken in June 2018. It was disheartening to note that the majority of Kenyans tend to throw rubbish on the roads and a sensitisation program is needed to educate the people on responsible disposal of waste.
MONTHLY PAPER RECYCLING
Monthly paper recycling drives are carried out in Nairobi. 200kg of recyclable paper was collected on our first drive. This gathered momentum, more awareness, and at our last count was a whopping 1290kg! Our aim is to be able to collect an average of 3000kg per month by the end of 2021.
In memory of our beloved Jaini, of Jaini's Diaries, tree planting was carried out on the slopes of Mt. Kenya.
